Gana: An Important Win

Idrissa Gana Gueye says signing off for the international break with a victory over Hull City was "important" for Everton’s hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top six.

The Senegal midfielder, who will now depart for friendlies against Nigeria and Ivory Coast, helped the Blues to extend their run of successive home league wins to six and move level on points with sixth-placed Arsenal, albeit having played two games more.

Ronald Koeman's side also maintained a seven-point gap over seventh-placed West Brom, who defeated the Gunners 3-1.

A typically industrious performance earned Gana the man of the match award from supporters in the Club’s hospitality lounges and afterwards the 27-year-old said: “I enjoyed the game. We won 4-0 and that’s important for the team.

“We are all happy. It was not our best game but it was important to take the three points.”
